Dry Eye treatment

What is Dry Eye Syndrome?

Dry Eye Syndrome is a common eye condition affecting an estimated 20 million people in the United States. It occurs when the eyes cannot produce sufficient tears, or high-quality tears, to keep the eye surface properly coated.

Dry eye can be triggered by environmental factors, medications, aging, hormonal changes, and underlying conditions.

Common Symptoms

  • Scratching or gritty sensation
  • Itchiness or burning
  • Excessive tearing (the eye overproduces tears to compensate)
  • Blurry or fluctuating vision
  • Redness and light sensitivity
  • Difficulty with screens, reading, or driving

Treatment Options

Dr. Shah takes an individualized approach. After a comprehensive evaluation to identify the root cause, a personalized treatment plan is created.

Artificial tears

Artificial Tears & Drops

Over-the-counter lubricating drops provide temporary relief and are often the first step. Prescription drops can also target inflammation driving chronic dry eye.

LipiFlow dry eye treatment

LipiFlow® Treatment

LipiFlow targets Meibomian Gland Dysfunction — the most common cause of dry eye. The device applies gentle heat and pressure to the eyelids, clearing blocked oil glands and restoring the natural lipid layer to your tears.

TrueTear neurostimulation

TrueTear™ Neurostimulation

TrueTear is a non-invasive, handheld device that uses gentle neurostimulation to increase the eye's natural tear production — stimulating your body rather than supplementing with artificial tears.

Dr. Shah's practice operates as a Dry Eye Center of Excellence — providing root-cause evaluations and individualized care.

Dry Eye Center of Excellence

Unlike a general eye exam, a dedicated dry eye evaluation goes beyond standard testing to identify the specific type and severity of your condition — allowing us to recommend the most targeted treatments.
